Picking Cotton

Picking Cotton is a space to discuss all the beautiful yet complex facets of being born a descendant of American slaves where we constructively exchange so that we can collectively progress. These dialogues are not for the faint of heart or the easily “triggered”. We’ve become entirely too tolerant of our communal circumstances. The tokens that slip through the intentional traps laid by the American system blind us from the fact that if we don’t start acknowledging the uncomfortable truth, unite under our shared lineage of American chattel slavery, fight for real policy justice for our people, we will never put ourselves in a position to rebuild our families and communities. I welcome all who are real allies to Descendants of American Slaves. People who understand that recompense for 401 years of injustice is the only way that America can write its wrongs: slavery, 13th amendment that ensured legalized state sanctioned modernized slavery, black code, pig law, the unfulfilled promise of 40 acres and a mule, the new deal, GI Bill, redlining, Jim Crow, integration, Reaganism, CIA crack cocaine infiltration, predatory loans, prison pipeline, 3 strike law, crime Bill, generational psychological warfare, police terrorism, judicial lynching, complicit corporation and banking systemic racism, centuries of rape and murder and more atrocities that span from the inception to present day of the United States of America. Feel free to start your own Picking Cotton rooms, nominate as many members of your own following as you see fit but let’s make sure it’s in the name of fighting for real equity by way of policy for our specific and unique Negro/Colored/“Black” American generational experience. 🖤✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼
