RARE™ is a fashion brand that is designed to start that uncomfortable conversation of chronic illness. It was founded by Kristine Hostermann who one day in the middle of an argument with her wife Carrie decided that she needed to make a point that her invisible illness was worth listening to. In frustration she created a shirt that said; “This is RARE.” and was determined to be heard. In the end, she prematurely ended the argument to share with Carrie the idea of a brand that not only spoke spoony truth but was connected to a community of other zebras.
